Students will work together during this STEM activity to plan, build, and test out their fence. It is the job of your students to build a new fence for the farmer. This is my favorite part! Then they will describe the traits of their pumpkin. They will write about the shape and color of their pumpkin. I had these dishes available to me so I used them however, you can simply use any container with a lid. In this experiment I simply used the insides of a pumpkin, or pumpkin brains as my kids called them, and petri dishes. We read them and cut/glue them in the order of the story! 3. Science experiments for kids do not have to be complicated or expensive to do. I do this whole group and we refer to our Pocket Chart as well. Then, using a pocket chart, we use Retelling Puzzle Pieces to sequence the story using story elements: characters, setting, problem, events, and solution.
